Clifton Downie, custom automotive designer and owner of Full EFX Auto Techniques, has created a unique yet classic model for a full-sized Mercedes-Benz pick-up truck. This idea emerged from a vision along with the increasing truck sales beginning in the year 2000. Clif contacted Mercedes in an attempt to convince them to create a full-size truck of their own. Although they seemed interested, this incredible vision never came to pass. Clif began the process by searching for the right foundation. He felt the 2001 Ford F-150 would be the most efficient advocate because of its rounded bodylines. Clif used a combination of fiberglass and metal to give the F-150 the Mercedes flavor. There was a considerable amount of labor required to blend the slightly smaller Mercedes front end to the larger Ford front clip. The outcome was more than they hoped for and the Full EFX team and its technique have created an amazingly unique truck that we hope to see as an addition to the auto industry.
